On 8th September, like every year, we along with the world, observed World Literacy Day. We tried to look into the matter, as to where does India stand in this larger picture and what is the status of Literacy and Education in our country.
Parmanu, is the next of our series on Indian Superheroes. Parmanu is like desi Iron Man. We don’t want to talk about RD Junior, but Parmanu’s suit is way cooler. He has powers where he can change his size, disintegrate himself at atomic level, and what not. He can pull trains, lift helicopter and beats his enemies to pulp. Parmanu appeared in numerous solo comics as well as lot of special along with Super Commando Dhruv, Nagraj and Doga.
Note: Parmanu is a fictional character who appears in comic books published by Raj Comics. The character was created by writer Sanjay Gupta in 1991.
Our next Superhero in the series is the dog faced masked vigilante, DOGA, who scurries the sewers and streets of Mumbai in the night, to hunt down criminals. His only aim is to eliminate crime and the only way he knows to do that, is to eliminate the criminals themselves. Doga shows no pain. Doga shows no mercy. He is watching. He is a believable, realistic superhero with a huge teen fan following. Doga’s popularity is clear by the fact that Anurag Kashyap is all set to start a film based on the comic character.
Note: Doga is a fictional character who appears in comic books published by Raj Comics. Doga was created by Tarun kumar Wahi, Sanjay Gupta & illustrated by Manu.

Next in line in our superheroes series comes ‘Nagraj’. Nagraj is our snake-wielding, weight-lifting, poison-fuming superhero, who also happen to have powers like shape shifting and invisibility (on a 3 sec deadline). Most powerful superhero in the Indian Comic scene, Nagraj is the oldest and most popular one too. With many solo, combo and series published with him as protagonist, and a chance to romance 3 girls, Nagraj happens to have the an all age fan following.
Note: Nagraj is a fictional character who appears in comic books published by Raj Comics. The character was created by writer Parshuram Sharma and illustrated by Pratap Mullick and co-created by Sanjay Gupta.
And here is our next superhero, who is so super that he has no superpowers.
Yes, Super Commando Dhruv, a one man deadly force fighting crime and trying to save the world, just in time. With his sharp brains and immense brawn he finds a way out of almost any situation. Dhruv is favorite of kids as well as favored by their parents for its characterization. Dhruv is undoubtedly one of the most loved character in Indian Comics as evident by unofficial online polls on various fan sites.
Note: Super Commando Dhruv is a fictional character who appears in comic books published by Raj Comics. The character was created by writer and illustrator Anupam Sinha.

Its an attempt to revive them and share the love.
The first in the series is Shaktimaan. We knew he had a paunch, and dressed as shabbily as possible, but Shaktimaan was still awaited every Sunday morning with the same enthusiasm every time. And who can foget the famous ‘Andhera Kayam Rahe’ and ‘Power’ yelling villains. Do share your love for shaktimaan, or else just say ‘Sorry Shaktimaan’.
