As famously said,”A picture is worth a thousand words”, these images of the Kangra Fort tell the story of trust, envy, devotion, grandeur, chastity and valour. The fort was made by the Katoch clan (the Royal family of Kangra) which traces its origins to Mahabharata times. The fort is largest in Himalayas and probably oldest in India.
It was captured first by Mahmud of Ghazni and then went from one emperor to another till it landed in the hands of the British Empire. After holding itself with pride for centuries, the fort was finally brought to ground by an earthquake in 1905.
The layout of the fort transformed with various appendages done by different rulers. Besides the magnanimity and charm of the fort, it was said to have hidden treasures of astronomical amount due to which it always attracted enemies.
